The Next Step

Despite last night’s minor setback, we decided to go ahead and move the box on top of the toilet today.  As planned, there is a chair next to it to help them get on and off of the toilet.  So far, they have explored but no one has used it.  I get the feeling that they’re looking at it thinking “you want me to do what??  where??” LOL.  We’re home most of today so that we can supervise and help as needed.

I would love to get Joey (my cat) to use the toilet, but I think he is just too big. His current litter box is actually a plastic storage bin that is about 6″ longer than a regular litter box and it’s still too small for him! When he’s in it his butt still hangs over the edge sometimes and he ends up pooping on the floor! UGH. I also don’t see his 21lb. self balancing on a toilet w/out falling in!

They say it is works for any size cat. How old is Joey? I think age is more of an issue than size. D&C are each between 15 and 16 lb, so they’re no where near petite. They’re not having any problems with their size so far. Carter is the bigger of the two, and he was the first to use the box on top of the toilet today. I’ll post a pic later. I do worry that they’re too old (they turned 4 in June) to make sure a big change, but again, no problems so far.
